TIS for pay is calculated exactly the same. Effective time for retirement calculation is total reserve points divided by 365 and then added to our total active service on your retirement order. Thank you so much! It all counts the same. For TIS purposes, 20 months drilling is the same as 20 months active.
Step 1: Gather Your Military Documents. You will need a copy of your supporting documentation (i.e., DD-214) that shows your dates of active duty military service and the type of discharge you received. Refer to the “Acceptable Military Documents” section for additional information on page 14.

Reserve Retirement. Reserve retirement is sometimes called non-regular retirement. Members who accumulate 20 or more years of qualifying service are eligible for reserve retirement when they reach age 60 or, in some cases, a lesser qualifying age. There are two non-disability retirement plans currently in effect for reserve qualified retirees.
Basic Allowance for Housing rates are then calculated for each pay grade, both with and without dependents, based on the housing choices of civilians with comparable incomes to each Service member
Step 1: Split the military time into hours and minutes. The first two digits in the time are the hours, and the last two digits are the minutes. Step 2: If the hours are greater than 12, then subtract 12 from them. In this case, the time will be a pm time; otherwise, it’s am.
The years of creditable service for an active duty retirement calculation is the sum of years of active service (i.e., active duty or full-time National Guard duty) and any additional years computed by adding all reserve points, if any (except those for active service)and dividing by 360.
